The Duchess, who juggles motherhood with a busy career, was visiting Australia in her role as ambassador for Waterford Wedgwood

The former Ferguson sisters with Jane's three children: Seamus and Ayesha by her first marriage to Alex Makim, and five-year-old Heidi by second husband, Rainer Luedecke

On a recent trip to Australia, Sarah, Duchess of York shared her innermost thoughts on life, love, remarriage, her children and her charity. And as she caught up with sister Jane Luedecke and her family who live in Sydney, Sarah spoke about how close she is to her sister, a bond which they describe as "an extraordinary close link, almost psychic – we couldn't do without each other".

Although it is three years since the former Ferguson girls actually saw each other, they are in touch constantly. During that time there have been profound changes in Sarah's personal life, which she spoke about exclusively during her trip to Australia. These fundamental changes have come about as a direct result of the tragedy of September 11, when her charity office in New York's World Trade Center was blasted to pieces by the terrorist attack.

Sarah should have been there, at Chances For Children on the 101st floor, but cheated almost certain death because she was running late.
