Antipodean hunk Russell Crowe threw a Sydney hotel into chaos recently when he started an impromptu game of football. The actor was having dinner with local rugby team the Rabbitohs when he decided a bit of a kick-about might be in order.

After collecting a football from his luxury apartment, Russ started the game, which resulted in £7,000 worth of damage.

"He treated the team to dinner at the restaurant which is downstairs from his penthouse flat," said a source at the hotel. "Then he went upstairs ands came back with a football to start a game. He was smashed against the wall in one tackle, but didn't seem to mind. A game of cricket also started after the furniture was removed and a table leg was used as a bat."

The Gladiator star wound up paying £14,000 for the shenanigans, as he paid for the damages and the £7,000 bill for the meal. The following day he returned to the hotel and shelled out a further £2,000 in tips for the bar staff.
