Business Broadband, essential for SMEs in 2012

12 JULY 2012

Those running Small & Medium Sized enterprises will immediately recognise the importance of two distinct factors in their day to day operations; the need to save money where they can and the value of their online activity.

Both are integral for their business to survive. However, whilst running an SME is a constant balancing act in keeping the investment profitable, many business owners are still unaware of the value of business broadband packages to their business.

Reliance on domestic broadband

A host of SMEs throughout the UK still rely on standard domestic broadband for their business needs. Whilst packages such as this are fine for home and family use they’re unable to cope with the demands placed on them by small business requirements.
Business broadband is the lifeblood of any productive SME. Whether emailing customers, clients or suppliers to ensuring the successful running of an e-commerce operation, the capacity of the broadband simply has to match the operational requirements of the business.

It’s therefore vital that small businesses look into the various business broadband deals available to them and upgrade immediately.

Saving money and saving energy

The continued use of domestic broadband by SMEs is lowering their productivity and business efficiency, as well as impacting on the wider UK economy.

Switching to a business grade broadband connection could collectively save SMEs in the UK up to £357million in wasted labour costs. Not only that, it could also potentially save up to 32.4 million hours of staff downtime each month.

This may be a collective cost, but when broken down to each individual SME it’s clear that both time and money can be saved, simply by upgrading to business broadband. Once the decision to upgrade has been taken – something which should really be happening now for all UK SMEs – to save further costs it’s vital to investigate a business broadband comparison.

It’s not all doom and gloom

With the continued issues experienced by the UK economy, in addition to the eurozone crisis, there appears to be the potential for British business to struggle. However, this hasn’t halted a high number of SMEs continuing to push the boundaries of their business. In fact, over the last 12 months a high proportion continued to access high-speed business broadband connections as well as next generation applications such as cloud.

Specifically there has been a 40 per cent growth in the number of SMEs doing exactly that over the last year.

Don’t be the last

To really ensure that you’re making the most of the potential of your business, don’t be the last to join the 10,000 more small and medium sized enterprises in the UK that are now accessing a network that spans over 90 per cent of the country.

A package to suit all needs

Running a successful small business isn’t just about your online activity. There are also the traditional methods of business to think about. Again the need to save money here is paramount. Therefore it’s imperative that when upgrading to business broadband, the option of a cheap business phone line is also investigated.

Cheap business broadband and cheap business calls can bring higher productivity and lower costs; perfect for your business to grow.
