For the ultimate in bridal chic, be inspired by Hollywood starlet Audrey Hepburn

Almost twenty years after she passed away, Audrey remains one of the greatest style icons of all time

It's one of the most famous opening scenes in film history: the effortlessly elegant Audrey Hepburn playing frivolous yet endearing Holly Golightly, perusing the windows of New York’s Tiffany & Co early one morning, coffee and croissant in hand. Of course Audrey's timeless, iconic style made her famous beyond the big screen, and her wardrobe both in and out of the spotlight still influences the fashion world to this day. Her red carpet appearances in Givenchy, the outfits Audrey wore in her films, and even her ‘off duty’ look, continue to inspire entire haute couture collections, hairstyles and accessories - not to mention scores of books dedicated to her style.

The bridal dress she wore in the film Sabrina is undoubtedly one of the best-known – an exclusive white strapless Givenchy gown edged in black lace, nipped in at the waist and with voluminous skirting. Breaking away from the conventional ‘all-white’ affairs, black lace embellishments became a popular choice for brides, and this season Carolina Herrera and Rosa Clara’s collections have incorporated these elements. Bodices, tulle skirts and Fifties style full skirts are perfect for adding a touch of 'Audrey' glamour to your wedding day.   Close attention should be paid to accessories too. Reem Acra recreated Audrey’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s style tiara this season – delicate jewel-encrusted headpieces underneath tulle and lace veils. Even Audrey's hairstyles - from her signature choppy ‘elfin’ crop to more elaborate ‘up-dos’ – have appeared on this season’s catwalk.

Another ‘Audrey’ touch is travelling in style: the Hotel St Regis makes for the perfect New Yorkhoneymoon setting. The recently opened 'Tiffany suite', sumptuously decorated in the famous Tiffany pale blue hue, is located at one of Manhattan’s most sought after addresses and boasts fantastic views of Fifth Avenue and 55th Street. And lastly, don’t leave home without a bottle of Givenchy’s delicate, floral fragrance ‘L’Interdit’, a scent which he created exclusively for Audrey.
