Chris Brown 'humbled and blessed' to leave prison

Monday June 2, 2014

Singer Chris Brown tweeted he is feeling “'humbled and blessed” after being released from prison Sunday night following 108 days behind bars.

The 25-year-old was admitted in March “for failure to comply with rules and regulations in the programme” of a rehab facility in Malibu.

Initially, the troubled musician was sentenced to one year in prison, after assaulting a man in Washington DC in October last year, but got credit for 116 days in rehab and 59 days behind bars.

During therapy, Chris was ordered but failed to stay at least two feet away from all women, due to a violent 2009 incident with then-girlfriend Rihanna around the time of the Grammy Awards.

He also refused to take a drug test and allegedly made inappropriate comments in group therapy sessions at the rehab centre, which all resulted in prison-time.

In February Chris was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which was taken into account when he was sentenced.

Although it has been tough for the star, he hasn't forgotten about his love for music. R&B singer James DeBarge served time in the same unit as Chris, and they have been "making tunes non-stop".

Following his release Sunday night, his Twitter account has looked optimistic as he's tweeted: "Back to music and fans" and "Thank you God".
