When asked how he was finding married life on Channel Four's Alan Carr: Chatty Man, David Walliams responded in an enthusiastic manner but promised: "Don't worry, I'm not going to do a Tom Cruise."
But as soon as the words had escaped the dynamic comedian's lips, the inevitability of him doing just that was somewhat sealed.
Seconds later, he was bouncing up and down on the sofa in a satirical impression of the celebrated actor, much to the delight of presenter Alan Carr.
The incident recalls Tom's episode on Oprah Winfrey's couch in 2005, where the Mission: Impossible star jumped up and down, punching the air and declaring his love for Katie Holmes shortly after starting their relationship.
Once the lively Little Britain co-star had calmed down, however, he began to speak in a more reflective fashion about his love for model wife Lara Stone, who he married in May.
"It's lovely meeting someone you want to spend the rest of your life with," he said.
