Dressed "from head to about the knees" in Valentino, Anne Hathaway was on hand to help welcome the legendary designer to Rodeo Drive's 'Walk Of Style'.
Anne introduced her favourite couriter before presenting him with a plaque and a statuette to mark his induction to the design equivalent to Hollywood Boulevard's Walk of Fame. Valentino is the 13th fashion leader to receive the honour, joining the likes of Manolo Blahnik, Tom Ford and Giorgio Armani.
Speaking at the inauguration, Devil Wears Prada beauty Anne - who first met the style icon during the lensing of the fashion flick - heaped praise on her pal, noting his "bright eyes of a dreamer, his curiosity, strength and fervor".
And she had a funny story to share about her first fitting for her first invitation to join the designer as his date for a gala event. "I put the dress on backwards. Luckily there were strategically placed sequins!" she revealed. "I knew it would be a great challenge to be perfect in Valentino for Valentino"
Valentino spoke of his delight at being the man of the moment. "I am completely drunk with compliments," announced the icon when he took his place on the podium. "In my long career, I have more or less refused other people saying nice things about me, but now that I am older, I accept."
The induction topped off a busy period for the 76-year-old - who announced his retirement from the fashion world stage in September 2007. It followed a number of star-studded premieres for his documentary: Valentino: The Last Emperor.
