Madeleine's parents open their hearts to Oprah

Gerry and Kate McCann have given an interview to Oprah Winfrey as they mark the second anniversary of daughter Madeleine's disappearance from a Portugese holiday resort on May 3, 2007.

The couple, who believe there is a "very real likelihood" she is still alive, hope the TV appearance may lead someone with information to come forward.

In the interview the pair, both doctors, address questions over their marriage. "Child abduction... could destroy any family," said Gerry. "But we've been supported tremendously well and I think that's helped us stay strong and stay together."

"Obviously, we're really united in our goal and our love of Madeleine and (her siblings) Sean and Amelie," he added on the programme to be seen in the UK on 5 May on Diva TV.

The McCanns also released a photographic impression of how Madeleine would look now. The little girl was just short of her fourth birthday when she disappeared
