Coronation Street star Andy Whyment is heading back to Weatherfield's famous cobbles after being frozen out of ITV's Dancing On Ice.

The actor, who plays Kirk Sutherland, lost a skate-off against professional skier Chemmy Alcott in the latest round of the ITV1 show. 

Andy and his partner Vicky Ogden found themselves in the bottom two by a combination of low scoring by the three panel judges and an unimpressed public.

Andy, 30, thanked his wife, the Corrie producers for letting him do the show and said: "I have had an amazing time."

Before the skate-off, the actor said he knew it was going to be his last dance so just intended to enjoy it. And he was proved right.

Wearing head-to-toe white, he and Vicky spun and twirled out their last routine to Elvis Presley's Suspicious Minds but did nothing to change the judges' minds.
