Ouch: Adam Sandler shows off his shiner

It was hard to miss the shiner sported by Adam Sandler as he took to the stage at the People's Choice Awards this week.

And true to form, the funnyman couldn't resist cracking a joke about his painful looking black eye.

He said: "I wanted to see the Black Eyed Peas and the lady thought I said: 'black eye, please'."

Adam made the quip after he was presented with the Favourite Comedic Star award by his Just Go With It co-star Jennifer Aniston.

His injury was actually sustained during a game of basketball.
