Minnie Driver lands comedy role in US series

Minnie Driver is heading back to television after landing a lead role in a new US TV pilot.

The British actress has been cast alongside Better Off Ted's Andrea Anders in comedy series Lady Friends, about two lifelong friends leading very different lives, reports Deadline.

Minnie will play unlucky Jen, while Andrea will star as her friend Nicole, a woman who has everything going for her.

TVLine.com reports that Cougar Town's Josh Hopkins will play Nicole's husband.

Despite Minnie recently speaking of her desire to work back in the UK, it seems she will be remaining overseas for the time being.

Minnie, 42, has appeared in several TV shows but made the biggest splash in The Riches before it was axed.

Her performance as a con artist posing as a wealthy woman saw her nominated for a host of awards including a Golden Globe and an Emmy.
