He's best known as the swashbuckling hero of Bernard Cornwall's soldiering series about ambitious Yorkshire-born soldier Richard Sharpe and hose-wearing roles in historical dramas such as Clarissa and Henry VIII, but ruggedly handsome Sean Bean has another goal in view. He'd like to add a comedy role to his resume.
“If I have an ambition it is to play in a really good comedy. I have had light-hearted roles but I would love a strong comedy one," says the 49-year-old.
"That, and seeing the Blades [Sheffield United] win the European Cup, would make life perfect," he jokes.
