Alexa Ray Joel - daughter of singer Billy Joel and supermodel Christie Brinkley  - has been released from a New York hospital after being rushed there on Saturday for treatment of an overdose of pills.

"She is going to be fine," her father says.

The 23-year-old is believed to have taken eight antihistamine pills known as Traumeel.

"She became worried about breathing, which is why 911 was called," says a source.

"She was apparently distraught over an argument with her boyfriend."

Alexa, who split from her musician boyfriend in July, often uses her MySpace page to give fans a further insight into her life.

"I live in the greatest city in the world and I can't seem to meet an interesting guy who also happens to be NICE. Go figure... " she recently posted.
