British musician icon David Bowie has come out of retirement - releasing a new single on the day of his 66th birthday.
Rumours of a new single emerged on the social networking site Twitter on Monday night, but were regarded by many as wishful thinking after the singer's ten years of musical silence.
It was revealed on David's website a few minutes past midnight on Tuesday, however, that the artist has released a new single, and will be releasing a new album in March, to the excitement of his global fan base.
David's film maker son Duncan Jones also broadcast the news of his father's new material on Twitter. "Would be lovely if all of you could spread the word about da's new album. First in ten years, and its a good 'un," said the director.
The new single, Where Are We Now?, is available to purchase on iTunes.
