Julie Walters brings late Secretary of State back to Stormont

The likeness was uncanny as Julie Walters appeared for the first time in costume in her new role as former Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Mo Mowlam.  She was filming the new bio-pic Mo at the Stormont Assembly building in Belfast.

She is filming a new C4 drama - due to be screened next year - which will portray the straight-talking minister's rise to prominence in Tony Blair's government and her exceptional contribution to the Good Friday peace negotiations while recovering from a treatment for a brain tumour.

Her husband Jon Norton is portrayed by David Haig.

When she died in 2005 just shy of her 56th birthday, Mo was praised by Mr Blair as "one of the most remarkable and colourful personalities ever to come into politics".

Bill Clinton was equally forthcoming about her contribution: "All of us who worked to support peace in Northern Ireland owe her our gratitude"
