Music veteran Englebert Humperdinck is trying to trace the mystery man who wanted to purchase his personalised number plate.
The star was dining in a luxurious London hotel when "a very nice man from the UAE" driving a Rolls Royce Corniche struck up a conversation with the Release Me singer about his music.
As well as being a big fan of the singer's hits, the mysterious man said that he had an eye on Englebert's car's number plate, which reads "EH1".
Persuaded by the generous offer, the star accepted his business card and promised to "close the deal" later.
However, the card has since been misplaced, leaving Englebert to appeal to the public to help him track down the businessman.
The crooner said: "His surname was Hussein and obviously his initial must have been E."
"So I am asking that, if anyone knows Mr Hussein, can they please contact my London-based record company, Conehead UK, as he had talked me into making the sale and I don't want to disappoint him."
