Tom Hanks has revealed that he has type two diabetes.
The 57-year-old actor has spoken out and said that he has suffered from the symptoms of the disease for more than 20 years but has only just received the medical diagnosis.
After American talk show host David Letterman commented on the actor’s trimmer frame, Tom revealed, "I went to the doctors and they said, 'You know those high blood sugar numbers you've been living with since you were 36, well you've graduated, you've got Type 2 Diabetes young man.'"
Type two diabetes comes about as a result of the body not producing enough insulin to function properly. The disease can be controlled through healthy living and a good diet.
Other celebrities who have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes include Halle Berry and Chaka Khan.
