Lorde and Imagine Dragons lead BMA nominations

Royals singer Lorde is only 17 and a newbie to the music industry, but has already made her mark on the scene - with two Grammy Awards under her belt.

Now she is leading the 2014 Billboard Music Awards nominations with impressive 12 nods, putting her ahead of the longtime favourites Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake.

She shares the top stop with Las Vegas based alternative rock band, Imagine Dragons. The New Zealand singer and the Radioactive hit makers - who spent a record-breaking 77 weeks in the top 100 charts - are both finalists in 12 categories.

The two smash-hits are nominated in the Top Hot 100 Songs category, competing against Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, Katy Perry’s Roar and Miley CyrusWrecking Ball.

Artists nominated for Top Artist are: Miley Cyrus, Imagine Dragons, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Top New Artist, Bastille, Capital Cities, Ariana Grande, Lorde and Passenger.
