Second big screen role for Tom Cruise's son Connor

Tom Cruise's adopted son with actress Nicole Kidman is to star in a remake of 1984 action drama Red Dawn, it has been reported.

The 14-year-old - who made his silver screen debut opposite Hollywood heavyweight Will Smith in Seven Pounds last year - is to play a high school student who helps wage war against foreign invaders.

Connor will soon be joining his new co-stars for three weeks of military training in preparation for their roles.

Filming is due to begin in Detroit next month with the movie scheduled to be released in September 2010.
