England boss cracks down on World Cup wives and girlfriends

A media circus ensued when the partners of the England football team travelled to Germany for the World Cup in 2006.

But that won't be the case in South Africa next year following news that manager Fabio Capello is limiting the access the WAGS have to their loved ones.

During the 2010 tournament, the ladies will be banned from staying in the same hotel as the team and they will only be able to see their partners at certain times.

There will also be no 'family travel package', as there was last time, meaning if they do wish to head to South Africa they will have to pay for their own flight and accommodation.

"The team will be able to meet their wives, friends, the girls, but for one day after the game," the Italian boss said this week.

"We are in South Africa to play, it is not a holiday."
