Former England footballer Paul Gascoigne has been admitted to hospital following a car accident in Newcastle.
The incident took place on Sunday evening at Sandhill, on the city's Quayside.
The vehicle, in which Paul was a passenger, is thought to have spun off the road before hitting a signpost.
A 36-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
A spokesperson for Newcastle General Hospital, where the former World Cup star and another man are being treated, described the condition of the two of them as "serious but not life-threatening".
The 43-year-old has faced a long battle with alcohol and drugs in the past.
