Cheryl Cole has enjoyed success outside of Girls Aloud with her stints on The X Factor.
And now fellow band lovely Sarah Harding is following in her footsteps to branch out in showbusiness.
The 27-year-old has announced she is taking up to a year out from her girl band duties to concentrate on an acting career.
The pretty blonde was picked as the final member of the five-piece group after gruelling live performances on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.
And while enjoying numerous tours and concerts with the girls - Cheryl, Kimberley, Nicola and Nadine - Sarah's silver screen debut in 2007's St Trinian's led to her new role in the film's sequel.
"Acting is good for me because I've always been a drama queen," Sarah said as she anounced her temporary departure from the band.
And while the news has fuelled speculation that Girls Aloud may split, Sarah has insisted she has no permanent plans to leave the group.
"It's not fun when it feels like groundhog year. We've been on a treadmill for six years and need a break."
