Joanna Lumley auctions off 'Ab Fab' outfits for charity

Joanna Lumley has sold a piece of fashion history, auctioning off some of her most famous outfits for charity.

Garments worn by fashionista Patsy in Absolutely Fabulous and crime fighter Purdey in the New Avengers went on to raise £15,000 for the Prince's Trust.

When considering her items, Joanna only picked those that were special to her.

The 66-year-old actress said: "I am giving up some of my greatest treasures and happiest memories."

"I am so thrilled to think that the proceeds will all go to benefit young people through one of my all-time favourite charities, the Prince's Trust. I love each item and each garment with a passion."

The biggest sale, however, was not of clothing. An album cover owned by Joanna which was signed by screen stars Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor from their 1963 film The V.I.Ps was bought for £1,300.
