Morgan Freeman pays tribute to his old teachers

Monday April 15, 2013

Morgan Freeman has paid tribute to the teachers who mentored him as a child.

The Oscar-winning star revealed he looked up to a number of people when he was young at the Guild of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Los Angeles spring luncheon.

"I had quite a few. I had a really terrific teacher called Leola Gregory Williams, she was real good. I had another teacher named Xerces Walker who was very good, and of course my parents," revealed the 75-year-old.

The Hollywood hero was at the mentoring charity's event to present an award to his long-term business partner Lori McCreary, the CEO of Revelations Entertainment and the producer of Morgan's film Invictus.

"She's my best friend, my partner in business, a wonderful lady. I wouldn't miss this," he said.

The Shawshank Redemption star was joined on the red carpet at the Beverly Hills Hotel by his daughter Morgana, who also accompanied him to the Los Angeles premiere of sci-fi flick Oblivion, in which he stars opposite Tom Cruise.
