Elton John and David Furnish to fight adoption laws

Elton John and David Furnish to fight adoption laws

Last week the legendary musician pledged to financially support Lev, an HIV-positive Ukrainian orphan who he was prevented from adopting.

And now Elton John, 62, and his partner David Furnish, 47, have vowed to fight the laws that made the adoption impossible.

Ukraine does not recognize the couple's civil status - they married in 2005 - and also restricts the age of potential parents.

"We were upset not to be allowed to adopt but we'll fight and work with the Ukrainian government to change the law so that HIV-positive children can be adopted," said David.

He also explained that he and Elton plan to discuss their options over the Christmas holiday.
