Marion Cotillard sees funny side after pin stab

French actress Marion Cotillard's moment of glory was nearly compromised this week.

When the brunette beauty stepped up to receive the prestigious Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres honour in Paris, things didn't quite go to plan.

As France's culture minister Frederic Mitterrand went to place the medallion on the actress' blouse, he accidentally skewered her with the pin.

After letting out a yelp, Marion - who won an Oscar for playing Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose - soon saw the funny side and burst into laughter.

In the same ceremony, Alice in Wonderland director Tim Burton was also recognised for his contribution to film.
