Chris Chibnall to return as 'Doctor Who' screenwriter

Doctor Who series eight may welcome back Broadchurch writer Chris Chibnall.

Chris, who penned the hit whodunnit drama currently showing on ITV, told CultBox he has been asked to come back and write more Doctor Who episodes.

He said: "I hope to [return for series eight], and Steven's [Moffat] been good enough to ask.

"So we'll just see if all the schedules figure out and stuff like that. But it's always lovely to be on the list."

Chris has previously written five episodes of the cult BBC time travelling drama and his most recent was The Power Of Three, shown in 2012.

He also wrote for ex Doctor David Tennant, on Broadchurch, who is one of the programme's lead characters alongside Olivia Colman as a troubled detective.

Chris called writing for Doctor Who "a privilege and an honour" and said: "It's a delight to go in and write a Doctor Who [episode].”
