Swine flu forces Cherie Blair to cancel Liverpool trip

Swine flu forces Cherie Blair to cancel Liverpool trip

The wife of former Prime Minister Tony Blair has become Britain's highest-profile victim of swine flu.

After feeling unwell at the beginning of this week, Cherie received the diagnosis on Tuesday.

The virus has forced the 54-year-old to cancel a scheduled visit to Liverpool's Hope University where she was due to receive an honorary degree for her work in human rights.

The Bury-born barrister is taking a course of the antiviral Tamiflu, and all further engagements will be postponed until she fully recovers.

The condition of husband Tony and the couple's four children is unknown.
