Hugh Dancy to star in racy Broadway show

Hugh Dancy has been signed up to star opposite Nina Arianda when Venus In Fur hits Broadway.

Producers said the British actor will be in Manhattan Theatre Club's production playing a playwright.

Hugh, married to actress Claire Danes, is a familiar face in the US, with previous appearances on TV shows such as HBO's Elizabeth I and Showtime's The Big C.

Venus In Fur, by David Ives, made its world premiere off-Broadway in January 2010.

In the play, an actress' audition for a new play based on an erotic novel gets emotional and kinky.

But this isn't Hugh's first time treading the boards - he made his Broadway debut in the 2008 Tony-winning revival of Journey's End.

He returned to the New York stage in the 2009 production of The Pride.

Performances begin on October 13 at the Samuel J Friedman Theatre on 47th Street and the show will run until December 18.
