Kate Middleton's see-through dress up for auction

The dress that sparked the royal romance of the century is going up for auction on Thursday.

Kelly Taylor Auctions will take offers for the sheer number once worn by Kate Middleton on the catwalk.

It is expected to fetch at least £10,000.

At the time she was modelling in a charity fashion show at St Andrews University where she met future husband Prince William.

The slip designed by student Charlotte Todd was originally meant to be a skirt.

But organisers decided at the last minute to have the striking brunette wear it as a dress.

Proud Charlotte said: "I never imagined as I sat knitting this piece it would be so important."
