Madonna's newly adopted daughter, Mercy James, could join her new family in New York as early as the end of the week, it has been reported.
Sources at the US Embassy in Malawi's capital of Lilongwe have revealed the four-year-old is likely to be issued with her visa on Wednesday allowing her to travel to the States from her current home in Africa.
A senior aid to the pop star jetted into the country on Tuesday to prepare the little girl's immigration papers. Mercy is then thought to have spent the day at the Kumbali Lodge, where the 50-year-old singer stays during her trips to Malawi, having English lessons.
"Mercy can only understand and answer basic issues like 'greetings' and 'what have you eaten'? But Madonna insists on speaking to her daily," a source has revealed.
"On Sunday night she told her: " Your big sister Lola (Madonna's 12-year-old daughter Lourdes) has decorated a room for you. You will like it."
Madonna was granted permission to adopt her fourth child last week when an earlier ruling barring the move was overturned. Mercy will join Lourdes, Rocco, her eight-year-old son with former ex-husband Guy Ritchie, and the couple's adopted son, David Banda, three, also from Malawi.
