There was a trip down memory lane for Sir Paul McCartney this week as he wowed Times Square with a unannounced roof-top performance reminiscent of an iconic Beatles gig from 40 years ago.
The 67-year-old rocker played a set of his hits, including Beatles tunes Helter Skelter and Back in The USSR to fans from the top of the Ed Sullivan Theatre, where he had been making an appearance on Letterman. Also on the chat show and watching from the sidelines was Bruce Willis and his new wife Emma Heming.
It was a flashback to what many consider as the end of the Swinging Sixties, when Paul and his Beatles bandmates performed a rooftop gig – their last ever performance together - from the top of their Apple Corps building in London.
