An audience of around 65,000 people heard Susan Boyle sing at an open air mass in Glasgow on Thursday.
But for the talent contest star, who is a practicing Catholic, only one really mattered – the Pope.
Susan, 49, said: "It's something I've always dreamed of, it's something I've always wanted to do, and here I am, finally getting the chance".
Though she was visibly nervous beforehand, the former church volunteer gave a flawless rendition of her signature I Dreamed a Dream.
Her repertoire also included the hymns Make Me a Channel of Your Peace and How Great Thou Art.
Her stirring performance inspired many to sing along, waving official Vatican City flags in pale yellow and white.
