BBC in talks to sign up Pope for radio slot

He's already up for a Brit Award with his classical music album, and now Pope Benedict XVI may try his hand at DJing, too.

The pontiff is in negotiations to appear on Radio 4's Thought for the Day, it has been revealed.

BBC director-general Mark Thompson has pitched the idea to the Vatican, while Radio 4 boss Mark Damazer says the Pope has always been on his "fantasy wish list" for the daily slot.

The three-minute pre-recorded broadcast would coincide with the Pope's visit to Britain later this year.
