She's loved by the nation for her role as gossip Dot Branning (previously Cotton) on hit show Eastenders. 

And now it seems that June Brown will have a chance to shine in a different light as she's agreed to compete on the Christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing.

The 83-year-old actress is the oldest contestant so far to trip the light fantastic on Strictly.

She will be partnered with Vincent Simone.

June said: "I'm terrified and apprehensive about what I've let myself in for.

"I must be barmy and I'm not sure what's come over me…"

"I just hope I can remember the steps to the routines.

"I'm looking forward to working with the professional dancers and the other contestants".
