The World Cup may be over, but the best-performing star is back in the limelight and is backing England in the country's bid to host football's most prodigious event in 2018.
Paul the octopus, the internationally renowned mollusc that correctly predicted the results of all seven of Germany's matches, is being used to bring attention to England's campaign.
The eight-armed sea-creature has been unveiled as a new "ambassador" for the FA's bid to host the World Cup after next and has made a guest appearance in England's video campaign.
Spain, also a potential host of the 2018 World Cup, hails Paul as a national hero after he correctly tipped their win over the Netherlands.
Although Paul lives in the Sea Life Centre in Oberhausen, Germany he has English heritage.
He began life in an aquarium in Weymouth, Devon, and so the FA are claiming that the two-and-a-half year octopus old has merely chosen to support his home team.
