Kate Moss named among 20th-century style icons

Croydon-born model Kate Moss has topped a new poll to discover style icons of each decade from the Forties to the turn of the century. The 35-year-old covergirl was the pick for the Nineties while Madonna's Material Girl look dominated the Eighties.

Other stars highlighted by participants in the survey – produced to mark next month's London Clothes Show fashion event – included Blondie singer Debbie Harry, who stole the Seventies, and Brigitte Bardot.

The French actress and model dominated the Sixties category, while Audrey Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich were recognised as the earliest fashion icons.
