Queen greets wounded soldier at palace party

Among the hundreds of guests attending a Buckingham Palace garden party on a warm Tuesday afternoon was a soldier badly wounded in Afghanistan.

Captain Ed Addington has battled his way back to health after being caught in an explosion and is now able to walk short distances after months of rehabilitation sessions.

Elegant in a pale floral dress and hat, the Queen took time to speak to the soldier - who was in a wheelchair as he is still unable to stand for long periods. They discussed his time in the army and his rehab.

"Things are going as well as they can. I'm not going to go back to active service but maybe there'll be another job for me," he later said.
