Shania Twain has found love following the painful breakdown of her marriage in 2008.

It has been confirmed that the 45-year-old singer is engaged to Swiss executive Frederic Thiebaud.

According to People magazine, he popped the question with a three-carat solitaire diamond ring.

Shania and Frederic, 40, (pictured in November) fell for each other after her husband of 14-years, Robert 'Mutt' Lange, left her for another woman in May 2008.

That alleged affair was with Frederic's then wife, and Shania's best friend, Marie-Anne.

In the wake of the separations, the couple reached out to each other and were later spotted holidaying together in Canada, New York and Florida.

Then, in August 2009, Shania – who has a nine-year-old son Eja with Robert – confirmed the new romance.

Writing on her website, she described Frederic as a "dear friend and a true gentleman" adding that he had "been the most constant companion and support for both Eja and I."
