Keith Duffy trading 'Corrie' role for Boyzone

Original Boyzone member Keith Duffy has announced he is giving up his role in Coronation Street to concentrate on forthcoming projects with the boyband.

The Irish actor, who plays barman Ciaran McCarthy in the long-running soap, has confirmed he will not be renewing his contract with Corrie when it ends in November.

"I need to concentrate on being with the boys. We've got a lot coming up so I've decided they'll take priority," says the singer, who joined his bandmates for a Stephen Gately tribute concert at the weekend.

"I love the show so it's been a hard decision. But I know it's right," he adds.
