'Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford set for 'Footloose' role

Dreamy actor Chase Crawford - known to fans of US hit series Gossip Girl as Nate Archibald - is to bop his way across the big screen in a new adaptaion of classic Eighties dance flick Footloose.

Taking Kevin Bacon's part in the original, Chase is to play Ren McCormack, a smalltown rebel with fancy footwork.

But he admits that when it comes to dancing he feels more like the character Wilard who doesn't know how to dance until Ren teaches him.

Speaking of his dance training, Chase commented: " I'm getting muscles that I didn't even know were there worked out."

The film, which is set for release late in 2010, will be directed by Kenny Ortega, the choreographer behind High School Musical.
