Lindsay Lohan is not the only member of her family facing serious legal issues.

Her father Michael Lohan has been charged with one count of domestic violence.

He was arrested on Monday when he was accused of striking a female in a nearby apartment.

It has been reported that the victim was his ex-girlfriend Kate Major.

According to People magazine, Michael was initially arrested for three felonies, but the LA District Attorney's office has decided not to pursue those charges.

The 50-year-old - released from Cedars-Sinai hospital on Tuesday for health problems unrelated to the incident - is set to appear in court for his arraignment on May 23.

He has denied the charges.
