Fresh from her stint on Golden Globe-winning series, Nip/Tuck, Joely Richardson will take on a role in historical drama series, The Tudors.
Set to play Henry VIII's sixth and final wife, Katherine Parr, the actress will star opposite Irish hunk, Jonathan Rhys Meyers in five episodes of the steamy series.
She is believed to have pipped X-Files star Gillian Anderson and Oscar-winner Kate Winslet to the part.
The project is Joely's first since the tragic passing of her sister, fellow screen star, Natasha Richardson, who died in March following a ski injury in Canada.
And the new part will reunite Joely with her ex-husband Tim Bevan, who is part of the show's production team. The couple, who have a daughter together, divorced in 2001.
The Tudors' fourth and final series, which is currently being filmed in Dublin, is due to hit screens in 2010.
