The Libertines are reuniting for a one-off London gig

Rock band The Libertines have confirmed they will be reuniting this summer to perform their biggest ever UK gig.

Carl Barat revealed that the band, including Pete Doherty, will reform for the British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park this July.

The British band formed in 1997 and were hugely influential in the revival of garage rock music.

Their music was often overshadowed by the internal conflicts that marred the band, including Pete’s addiction to drugs and drink.

They reformed in 2010 to play the Leeds and Reading festivals, but this will be their biggest show ever in front of over 50,000 people.

Speaking of the reunion Carl said: "Of course I have nerves, with the Libertines there have been problems in the past but also amazing, it’s usually worth the problematicness."
