Pamela Anderson's 'profound effect' on Oxford students

Tuesday October 26, 2010

Pamela Anderson has addressed students at the Oxford Union to talk to them about vegetarianism.

The former Baywatch actress spoke to around 200 students on behalf of Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), beginning her talk at the university with a video in support of her campaign.

The 43-year-old – well known for starring in several Peta campaigns to champion animal rights – has been a vegetarian since she was a teenager.

She said she took up the cause after seeing her father hunt, and went on to persuade him and his friends to give up the sport.

"We had a great talk, it was wonderful," the blonde mum-of-two (who appeared alongside Peta's Dan Matthews) told the BBC of her visit.

"We were talking about the easiest ways to go vegetarian. I think we had a really profound effect on the audience."
