Welsh actor Rhys Ifans has joined the cast of film adaptation Madame Bovary.
The star will play a manipulative merchant in the representation of the classic, who eventually leads Madame Bovary to financial ruin.
The Kids Are Alright Star Mia Wasikowska will play Madame Bovary in the adaptation, which will be directed by Cold Souls filmmaker Sophie Barthes.
Ezra Miller has also joined the cast to play her youthful lover.
Filming is set to begin next Spring.
Rhys is also set to play Olympic champion Bradley Wiggins in a biopic.
