Kate Bush's star-studded comeback concert

A star-studded crowd of 4,000 fans gathered to watch Kate Bush perform for the first time in 35 years on Tuesday night at the Hammersmith Apollo, the venue of her last gig in 1979.

Lily Allen and actress Gemma Arterton were among the audience at the 56-year-old singer's much awaited comeback.

Despite a strict photo ban at the concert imposed by the Wuthering Heights singer, Lily Allen managed to keep her Instagram followers up to date with a sneaky snap of the Before The Dawn stage.

Pop legends Madonna, Bjork and David Bowie are also rumoured to have been in the crowd. Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour, Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Holly Johnson, Soft Cell's Marc Almond arrived at the West London venue for the Before The Dawn show.

Frank Skinner and Michael Ball were also spotted arriving in high spirits as they turned up for the show. Derren Brown tweeted after the gig: "At Kate Bush. #beforethedawn Magnificent, beautiful, vulnerable. And the love in the air here is just fantastic. What a night."

Kate Bush's three-hour set on Tuesday night kicked off her run of 22 shows, which sold out in minutes of being released.
