James Bond’s Aston Martin fetches £2.6m at auction

The iconic 1964 Aston Martin DB5, featured in hit Bond films Goldfinger and Thunderball starring Sean Connery, has been bought by an American car enthusiast for £2.6 million at auction.

Clearly delighted with his new purchase, proud new owner Harry Yeagy said: “We’re going to fire the car up and drive it round the streets of London tonight. We're going to have a bit of fun with it.”

The silver model boasts revolving license plates, a bullet-proof shield and an ejector seat.

Still a worthy competitor for modern-day vehicles, the car can also reach speeds of 145mph.

The previous owner – also from the US – paid $12,000 for car in 1969.
