Culinary whiz Delia Smith is on the verge of signing up to front a new BBC cookery show to celebrate her 40-year career. The 67-year-old celebrity chef, who started her career as a food writer in 1969, will recreate her favourite recipes using modern ingredients and a modern budget.
The half-hour shows have been given the working title of 40 Years Of Delia, says a spokesperson for the channel.
"Delia has single-handedly changed the nation's eating habits - from the roast duck with cherry sauce in the Sixties to freezer favourites in the Noughties," says Delia's representative.
