Football star Cristiano Ronaldo and the rest of his Real Madrid team have plenty of fans around the world, including Russell Crowe it seems.

While the New Zealand-born actor was in Madrid for the premiere of his latest film, Robin Hood, he was sure to stop by a training session to catch some of his favourite footballers in action.

Russell chatted with the stars of Real Madrid, including the team's injured captain, Raul Gonzalez, whom he wished a speedy recovery.

There was also an exchange of gifts as Cristiano presented a jersey to the actor, who in turn gave each player words of good luck and a cap from the rugby team that he co-owns, the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
